At the Women Leaders Forum, organized as part of the Climate, Environment, and Women 2030 meetings, Gaziantep’s rich cultural heritage, products with geographical indications, and heirloom seeds were showcased to visitors. The Geographical Indications Exhibition, held within the scope of the forum, promoted Gaziantep’s traditional production culture and gastronomic values ​​while highlighting the cultural and economic significance of the city’s products bearing geographical indications. Two newly registered products with geographical indications were introduced for the first time at the exhibition. With these new registrations, the number of Gaziantep’s products with geographical indications reached 111+1. This underscored the scope of efforts aimed at protecting, documenting, and passing on the city’s traditional products to future generations. Additionally, heirloom seeds cultivated by women farmers under the "Heirloom Seeds Come to Life with Women Farmers" project were displayed at the event. The exhibition drew attention to the importance of preserving and carrying forward not only Gaziantep’s gastronomic heritage but also its agricultural biodiversity and traditional production knowledge. Bringing together products with geographical indications and heirloom seeds at the same event highlighted the importance of safeguarding local production, women's labor, agricultural heritage, and gastronomic culture within a sustainable value chain. The transmission of Gaziantep’s traditional values—carried from the past to the present—into the future through the labor and production of women continues to contribute to the preservation of the city’s cultural heritage and the promotion of local products on both national and international scales.
