Gaziantep Yemeni Honored with Geographical Indication: It Becomes the City's 110th Registered Asset
The traditional Gaziantep *yemeni*—one of the city's deep-rooted handicrafts preserved for centuries—has been officially placed under protection following a registration process. Registered by the Gaziantep Development and Promotion Association (GAGEV), the *yemeni* has secured its place in the city's cultural inventory as its 110th product with a geographical indication. Embodied with immense craftsmanship in every stitch and a rich history in every pattern, the Antep *yemeni* has endured for centuries thanks to the skill of its masters and traditional production techniques. Distinguished by its use of natural leather and expert shaping, this craft will now be passed down to future generations while preserving its authentic standards, thanks to the geographical indication registration it has received. This step, taken as part of the commitment to safeguarding Gaziantep’s rich artisanal and cultural heritage, has both documented the efforts of master artisans on a national scale and expanded the city's range of registered products. Gratitude was expressed to all the masters and institutions that have worked to preserve and uphold these traditional values, with the hope that this 110th geographical indication registration will bring prosperity to Gaziantep, its economy, and its cultural tourism.
